A Candle in the Wind (short term missionary housing)
At ServantCARE, we are actively engaged in the practice of biblical hospitality and desire to see it restored to the Body of Christ. To that end we have established the following hospitality network.
Hospitality homes allow us a wonderfully practical way to “care for those who serve”. These are privately owned, smoke free Christian homes made available by those with a heart for hospitality, and a desire to serve those in ministry. Some are available only overnight, while others are available for longer periods of time. Some are small homes with a spare bedroom while others are large and have amenities like pools, game rooms, and libraries. Some are immaculate and some are well lived in. Some are remotely located for those who need quiet rest, but most are centrally located to interstates for convenience. All have hosts with open arms and open hearts.

BMI Oasis In Richland, Michigan, BMI Oasis, a ministry of Bridge Ministries, Inc., offers accommodation and several retreat options for pastors and missionaries and their families for rest and renewal.
Buffalo Ridge Hospitality and Retreat Center In Williamsburg, Kansas, Buffalo Ridge Hospitality and Retreat Center is a ranch that provides accommodation for pastors and missionaries and their families.
Canna Country Inn In Etters, Pennsylvania, Canna Country Inn is a B&B that offers a 25%-75% discount for pastors and missionaries and their families.
Deer Ridge Ministries In Freeport, Illinois, Deer Ridge Ministries provides free 5-day self-directed retreats for ministers and missionaries and their spouses.
Eden Ridge Near Crossville, Tennessee, Eden Ridge is a retreat center that offers an 80% discount to missionaries for 2-14 nights’ stay (possibly longer, subject to approval).
En Gedi Retreat In Yampa, Colorado, En Gedi Retreat has a cabin that sleeps six people on a working cattle ranch which is available for free to pastors and missionaries and their families.
Home of Peace In Oakland, California, Home of Peace offers reduced rates for pastors, missionaries, and their families for short-term accommodation in the B&B and long-term accommodation in a two-bedroom apartment which sleeps eight people.
Snow Mills Guesthouse In Bogart, Georgia, Snow Mills Guesthouse, a ministry of Missionary Care Ministry, allows missionaries to stay in three bedrooms of the main house or in a three-bedroom apartment for free for 3-days up to a month.
The Dwelling Place In Cassville, Wisconsin, The Dwelling Place is a ministry of Servant Care offering inexpensive accommodation in a large home to single Christian workers and couples.
The Gathering Place Outside Charleston, South Carolina, The Gathering Place offers short-term housing for pastors, missionaries and their families.
The Haven Located in Eure, North Carolina, the Haven provides accommodation for missionaries for two days to two weeks for rest and renewal.
English Creek Baptist Church, Newport, TN, has a lovely 4 bedroom missionary home located approximately 45 minutes from Asheville, NC, and Knoxville, TN, near I-40. The house sits in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, and is available for missionaries on deputation, furlough, vacation, medical or educational leave. No rent is charged. Occupants pay the electric/water bill. The home is completely furnished and maintained by the church. Reservations for 2 weeks to 1 year are accepted if the home is vacant. TENNESSEE
On the Cumberland Plateau near Crossville, Tennessee, EdenRidge provides a place 10 minutes off I-40 for missionaries and their families to truly rest while on furlough. The cabins, built in 2012 and 2013, each include beds for four, a fully-outfitted kitchen, a spacious living room and a washer and dryer. A bunkhouse with eight beds is also available on the property to accommodate larger parties. An endowment fund covers missionaries’ rates, making the cabins free for up to two weeks a year. Fairhaven Ministries in Blue Ridge Mountains of E. TN. Retreat and Counseling Center for Christian Workers.
